touching heroes

the art cycle touching heroes (2003-2007) consists of a narrative art installation that consists of 101 clay sculptures 35 cm high. the heroes are actually anti-heroes who show their wounds and vulnerability, unabashedly exhibiting who they are with their poignant shortcomings and deformities. fingers, feet, and entire body parts are missing, physical deformities that are metaphors for inner states and sensitivities. it is a representation of the inner self of human beings that is impossible to see from the outside. the 101 sculptures have been performed on various stages and have been part of art installations in zurich, basel, berlin, italy, and france, in this way the artist subjected his heroes to many tests in public spaces and collected all sorts of reactions, which he then meticulously documented with photographs, catalogs, and two stop motion films.
